Stability
Advantages of small particle size: Microemulsions with particle sizes less than 100 nanometers, such as amino silicone oil microemulsions, have particle sizes generally less than 0.15μ, are usually clear or milky white, and have excellent storage stability, heat resistance, and shear resistance. Sexual intercourse, generally does not cause lactation.
Disadvantages of large particle size: Emulsions with particle sizes between 100 nanometers and a few microns are usually opaque or milky white and have relatively poor stability. Stratification (oil drifting) may occur during storage.
Fabric finishing effect
Advantage of small particle size: In the textile field, small particle size silicone oil emulsion can better penetrate into the interior of fabric fibers, making the fiber surface more evenly covered with silicone oil molecules, thereby giving the fabric more excellent softness, smoothness and elasticity, and improving the finishing. The resulting fabric feels delicate and plump. -
Disadvantages of large particle size: It is difficult for emulsion with larger particle size to penetrate deep into the fiber, which may lead to uneven distribution of silicone oil on the surface of the fabric, affecting the finishing effect, making the fabric feel not soft and smooth enough, and its elasticity is relatively poor.
Defoaming effect
Advantage of small particle size: In defoaming applications, silicone oil emulsion particles containing small particle sizes, such as emulsion particles formed by fumed silica and silicone oil, form a basic defoaming unit with very small particles and a very large number in the foaming liquid. It can more effectively reduce the surface tension of liquid and enable the defoaming agent to achieve the best defoaming effect.
Disadvantages of large particle size: Large particle size silicone oil emulsion is not dispersed evenly in the foaming liquid, and the defoaming units are relatively large and small in number, resulting in poor defoaming effect and difficulty in quickly and effectively eliminating foam.
Lubricating effect
Advantage of small particle size: Small particle size silicone oil emulsion can be more evenly dispersed on the friction surface, forming a thinner and more uniform lubricating film, thereby better reducing friction and wear and improving the working efficiency and life of mechanical equipment.
Disadvantages of large particle size: The lubricating film formed by large particle size emulsion on the friction surface is not uniform enough, which may cause insufficient local lubrication, affecting the lubrication effect and leading to increased equipment wear.
Gloss improvement effect
Advantage of small particle size: When small particle size silicone oil emulsion is used for surface treatment of leather, plastic and other materials, it can more closely fill the tiny pores on the surface of the material, forming a smoother and flatter surface, thus significantly improving the gloss of the material.
Disadvantages of large particle size: It is difficult for large particle size emulsion to fill the tiny pores on the material surface and cannot achieve the same gloss improvement effect.
