Laser particle size analyzer measures calcium carbonate particle size distribution: Generally, calcium carbonate (CaCO3) particles are widely used in polyester, plastics, papermaking and other chemical industries due to their good filling performance, with a wide range of applications. Depending on its processing technology and application, it can be divided into surface-modified and unmodified calcium carbonate CaCO3. Surface-modified CaCO3 particles easily form a stable and uniformly dispersed state in distilled water, and can be directly measured with a laser particle size analyzer. Find out its particle size. Test conclusion:
1. Modified CaCO3 has strong hydrophobicity, so it cannot be tested without dispersant.
2. Since the addition of surfactant greatly reduces the surface tension of water, it has similar test results to alcohol as the dispersion medium. Both methods are available.
3. Since the addition of surfactant is prone to foaming and affects the test results, when using water as the medium, it is suitable for static testing, while when using alcohol as the dispersion medium, both static and dynamic testing is possible.
4. When alcohol is used as the medium, the difference in results with and without electrolyte dispersant is not obvious, so no dispersant can be added during the test.
