Definition of graphite:
Graphite is an allotrope of the element carbon. Each carbon atom is surrounded by three other carbon atoms (arranged in a honeycomb-like hexagonal shape) and combined with covalent bonds to form a covalent molecule. Because each carbon atom emits an electron, and those electrons can move freely, graphite is a conductor of electricity.
Uses of graphite:
1.As conductive material. Graphite is widely used in the electrical industry as electrodes, brushes, carbon rods, carbon tubes, positive electrodes of mercury rectifiers, graphite gaskets, telephone parts, coatings for television picture tubes, etc. Among them, graphite electrodes are the most widely used. When smelting various alloy steels and ferroalloys, graphite electrodes are widely used. Graphite used in the electrical industry has very high requirements on particle size and quality. The smaller the average particle size, the more uniform the discharge, the more stable the discharge conditions, and the better the surface quality.
2. Refractory materials include refractory bricks, crucibles, continuous casting powder, mold cores, mold detergents and high temperature resistant materials.
3. Steelmaking. Graphite and other impurity materials can be used as carburizers in the steelmaking industry. The range of carbonaceous materials used for carburizing is very wide, including artificial graphite, petroleum coke, metallurgical coke and natural graphite. Graphite used as carburizing agent in steelmaking is still one of the main uses of earthy graphite worldwide.
4. Used as wear-resistant and lubricating materials, corrosion-resistant materials, etc.
It can be seen that the particle size distribution of graphite is crucial to its use. This time Winner2005A is recommended to test graphite powder samples for customers.
